Chalkboard Clothespins

I have been looking for new and creative ideas for displaying student work in my classroom. I had decided to put up a couple clotheslines this year. Then, I discovered Chalkboard Clothespins on Pinterest {where else?!} and decided to create some of my own.

To make them I used 2 packs of clothespins and 2 pieces of balsa wood (I would have preferred to use something a bit sturdier, but I needed something I could cut).
I cut the balsa wood into 2-inch pieces:
Then I spray-painted the pieces with chalkboard paint. When they dried, I used a stencil and traced it onto each one using a white paint marker:
I painted the clothespins to match the colors in the room:
Last, I used a glue gun to attach the chalkboard pieces to the clothespins:
I can't wait to see how these look in my classroom!!!

Thanks for sharing this awesome idea! Made mine today! My husband cut the balsa with his mat cutter, and I spray painted my clothespins. What kind of clothesline did you use in your class? YOU are such an inspiration!!
